Calvin Brown
"Reggie" a Rayen Student
My name is Calvin Brown, and I am a graduate from YSU with a Bachelor’s in Musical Theater through the DANA School of music. As well as a Masters in Musical Theater and Vocal Pedagogy from Carnegie Mellon College of Fine Arts Theater, Music, and Dance.
I have always defined myself and found my identity through the performing arts. Whether it be acting, singing, or dance I have found new aspects and understanding of myself and a newfound deep love in each discipline of the performing arts.
My theater experience ranges from local public theater as a young child to taking professional theater jobs in the surrounding areas in Cleveland, OH and Pittsburgh, PA. Yet, throughout my career I have also began travel to pursue my passion from place like New York, Chicago, Los Angeles, Atlanta, as the list goes on I have found my way there from taking intensives to further my education to taking and seeking new opportunities in performance to broaden my horizons.
I have also found myself exploring new aspects of the arts from singing & song writing and music production, as well as taking steps into the realm of television and film by gracious opportunities given by the likes of Netflix, Disney, Paramount, and Apple.
For me performance is a form of expression that helps us not only understand ourselves on a deeper intimate level but as well with those around us and the world as a whole. For me performance is a humbling craft that requires you to humble yourself to look at things objectively to clearly see the stories of every living being around us because everyone has a story to tell, and everyone’s story is unique, powerful, and moving from one to the next.
